New Report: Proposed Medicaid Cuts Could Strip Coverage from Over 700,000 Michiganders
Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) have released the top-line findings of a new report outlining the devastating impact of proposed federal Medicaid cuts. If passed, these cuts could terminate health coverage for hundreds of thousands of Michigan residents—including people with disabilities, seniors, children, veterans, and working families.
The report warns of severe consequences, including rural hospital closures, increased health disparities, and a $2 billion hole in Michigan’s state budget. These cuts would also jeopardize jobs, strain small businesses, and raise healthcare costs for everyone.

These findings are a sobering reminder of why we must continue to advocate for Medicaid and protect access to care for those who need it most.
