Shared Parenting

The Arc’s Shared Parenting Program provides respite to primary caregivers. Services are longer in scope, typically arranged to take place in six 24-hour blocks of time per month. Shared Parenting provides caregivers the opportunity to go on vacation or take a long weekend and also provides the individual a break from caregiving. Families identify individuals to act as “co-parents” who will provide the respite, and The Arc administers the Medicaid-funded program. All participants must be 18 years old or older and currently have an open case with Community Mental Health.
