Privacy Policy for Personal Information Collected Through the Website and SMS Consent
The Arc of Macomb County, Inc. (The Arc) is a non-profit organization created in 1953 by a group of parents who wanted support and services for their children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in their local community. The Arc continues to advocate for and provide services to people with disabilities in Macomb County through various programs.
The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform people using The Arc’s website about how their personal information may be used. The Arc uses text messaging to remind people of appointments, to stay in touch with people enrolled in our services, and for staff to communicate with each other. The Arc only sends text mesages to people who have verbally expressed that they prefer texting as a means of communication, people who have initiated texting with The Arc, or to people who have texted START to The Arc. If someone replies STOP or asks us not to text, The Arc honors that preference.
When individuals are registering to become a member of The Arc, their name, address, email address, and phone number are gathered. This information is stored on our server and used to send newsletters via mail or email as well as inform members of events at The Arc.
When people are applying for employment through our website, their name, address, email address, and phone number are gathered. This information is used to contact the applicant to gather information, schedule interviews, and have conversations about employment.
The Arc stores all data in password encrypted systems to protect customer data from unauthorized access or misuse. The Arc complies with all HIPAA regulations as well as privacy regulations from Macomb County Community Mental Health and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Data gathered will never be shared with a third party unless the individual or their legal representative has signed an Authorization to Release information stating what information can be shared, to whom it may be shared, and the time period it covers. SMS opt-in and phone numbers for the purposes of SMS will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
At any time, individuals may request access to the personal information gathered. They can update this information as needed. Individuals can request that their data be deleted.
